D.I.Y Fireplace Scents That Will Make Your Home Smell Ah-Mazing

Fall is here! I don’t know about you, but the only thing pulling me out of the depression of summer being over is the fact that I can throw on some leggings and do absolutely nothing next to a fire. My wood burning fireplace is one of my favorite features in my home.  There is nothing like the warmth and glow that comes from a fire. Even when a hand full of friends stop by, I make sure to always light the fireplace. It adds an extra touch and really sets the tone for a relaxing evening.

One unique way you can make your home more inviting is to add some scent to your fireplace. The aromas when mixed with some delicious fall candles… YUM!   Below are some DIY fireplace scents you can make at home that are not only lovely to smell but also chemical free!

Dried Apple Chips

Not only are these a great healthy snack, but they are also something you can toss in the fireplace to add a little extra fragrance to your cozy fire.

  2. Remove the core from any apple and slice.
  3. Place on baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  4. Sprinkle with cinnamon.

Cinnamon Sticks & Herbs

This actually involves no work!

Throw a couple of cinnamon sticks along with some dried herbs into the fire and let the aromas give you all the warm and fuzzies.
Burning sage, not only is a way to ward off evil spirits (if you believe in that sort of thing) but it also smells fantastic!

Bonus tip: Combine all four in a jar with some burlap or ribbon for homemade potpourri. Also, these would be great additions to your wreath for added texture and scent.

Cheers,

Lacey
